Webster defines ‘whirlwind’ as a column of air moving rapidly around and around in a cylindrical or funnel shape. We often refer to life as a ‘whirlwind’ when life is so crazy and everything goes unexpectedly. There is no other way to describe our life these last 15 days for us. We all know that physical life on earth will end but we are thrilled to know that our soul lives on forever. Our hope and joy for us as we laid to rest, Becky’s Dad, was of his faith and Jesus’ promise that He has prepared a place for us that will be our home forever.
Our mission as a follower is to ‘seek and save’ the lost. As I listen and watch the church across the USA and even across our district, I get the sense that we have developed the idea that our mission is to preserve the church. We want people to think, act, talk and dress like us. That should not be the mission of the church. But it seems to have become the priority of many congregations. We want the music we like, and the kind of sermons that meet our needs, but instead we must be following the leadership of our pastors to find ways to reach the lost. We must be authentic followers of Christ and invite others to join us in the journey.
Thank you so very much for your prayers and many words of encouragement to us these past 2 weeks. The floral arrangement that was sent for the service was beautiful and much appreciated.
