My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27. In the book, The Shepherd’s Christmas Story, the author says “Our sheep know our voices. They follow us. We do not drive them, but lead them to quiet streams and green pastures, as David sang in the Psalms.” Cattle and horses are driven, not sheep, they are led. We are compared to sheep in scripture. We are led, not driven. God does not force Himself or His ways on us (although sometimes I sure wish He would). We get a choice to follow or not to follow.

He leads us to quiet streams and green pastures to be nourished and encouraged and rest and restore us. What great promises if we follow The Shepherd.

Questions to consider:

– What are you doing to know the Shepherd’s voice? To discern His voice from all others?

– Are you following His voice?

May the promises of The Shepherd encourage and guide you as you serve Him.
