Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Psalm 105:2
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Psalm 95:
1

Multiple passages of scriptures direct us to sing to the Lord. What a privilege we have to freely do that in our homes, our vehicles, and churches. We have access to music pretty much anywhere we go.
A good beat or a fun melody will catch my attention, pull me in, and I enjoy it sometimes without really paying attention to the words. But I work to focus on the words of the songs. I ask myself “Do I mean them?” “What do they mean to me?” I Speak Jesus or Raise a Hallelujah are a couple that come easily to sing and mean every word. I want my family to have a strong relationship with Jesus. I want everyone to know His name is power and healing and life. It breaks every stronghold. And let us praise God no matter what. Praise Him because He is I AM, Praise Him the miracles that have come and those to come.
But Oceans—now that one causes me to hesitate. There is something about some of those lyrics that make me wonder what am I asking God to do. Am I ready? Do I mean it?
As you listen to the words and sing them out think about what you are praising God for and what you are asking.
